01The trial visit is where a member is won
An ad, a reel or a Google listing can only get a person to book a visit. Nobody takes out a membership because of a photo. The decision happens on the visit itself: who greets them by name, whether a coach walks the floor with them, whether they leave knowing what to do on day one. So before you spend a lei on reach, walk through your own trial visit the way a stranger would live it. Is there a person at the door? Is the first workout written down? Does anyone message them the next day? A gym that loses people at this step will lose them again after you pay for more traffic.
- Every trial visitor is greeted by a named person, and a coach walks the floor with them
- The first workout is written down and handed over before they leave
- The next day they get a message from the coach who met them
- You note, every time, where they heard about you
02The January and September waves, and what comes after
In most gyms the rush comes in January and September, because that is when many people decide to start. You cannot move those dates, but you can decide what happens around them. Before the wave, have the beginner path ready: an intro session, the first four weeks of a programme, a coach assigned to each newcomer. During it, take a name and a WhatsApp number from every visit, with their permission, because the ones who do not sign this week are your list for February. After it comes the part that gets skipped: a message from the coach in week three and another in week six, asking how it is going and booking the next session. Before planning anything, check your own records. Of the people who joined last January, how many were still training in April?
- Before: a beginner programme and an assigned coach, ready before the first rush
- During: a name and a WhatsApp number from every visitor, with permission, signed up or not
- After: a coach check-in in week three and again in week six
- Count how many of last year's joiners were still coming three months later
03What a stranger sees before they walk in
Someone who searches sala fitness plus a neighbourhood, or opens the map, sees three things in seconds: your photos, your rating and your hours. Put real photos on the profile: the floor at a busy hour, the changing rooms, the coaches' faces. Show the price, or at least how to ask for it, because a common pattern is that people leave when they cannot find it. Then add short vertical video of the actual coaches and the actual floor: a coach showing one movement in twenty seconds, the room at 7 am, a member's first pull-up, with their permission. It looks less polished than a studio ad, and that is the point, because the visitor is checking that the place is real. Reviews follow the same logic: ask members when they are happiest, and reply to each one by name.
- Profile: real photos of the floor, changing rooms and coaches, true hours, and a price or a clear way to ask
- Video: 15 to 30 seconds, one coach and one movement, filmed on a phone on the real floor
- Reviews: ask at a good moment and reply to every one
04Members who bring a friend, and what to stop paying for
A member's friend arrives half convinced and with someone to train beside, which makes referral the first thing to build before you pay for anything else. Make asking routine: a free guest pass each member can give to one person, a coach who mentions it after a good session, and a thank-you that costs little, such as a coaching session rather than a discount war. Then look at what you pay for that you cannot tie to a trial booking. Ask every new visitor how they heard about you and write it down for three months. Posts boosted for likes, flyers dropped with no target, influencer posts with no booking link, a January price banner that draws people who only want the cheapest month: if the notebook shows no trial visits from it, stop.
- A free guest pass every member can give to one friend
- At every trial visit, ask how they heard about you and write the answer down
- After three months, stop what you cannot tie to a single trial visit
- Thank members with a session or a coffee, not a price cut
05Where PROOF48 is the wrong choice for a gym
Our BROADCAST plan costs 597 EUR a month. It includes everything in FOUND (Google Business Profile management, local SEO for 5 target keywords, competitor and review monitoring), 4 AI blog posts and 12 AI videos a month, a monthly content calendar and a quarterly strategy call. The videos use an AI avatar built from your brand direction, so they cannot be your coaches on your floor. That footage has to come from your own phone. The plan is the wrong choice if the trial visit is your problem, because no plan fixes a front desk. It is wrong if your gym already fills from referrals, or if you want paid ads this month: ad management sits in GROWTH, at 1,497 EUR a month plus ad spend. And for one small studio, 597 EUR a month may simply be more than you should spend. The profile and the review habit cost only your time.
- Real footage of your coaches and floor stays yours to film: our videos use an AI avatar
- If the trial visit is the problem, fix that first, because no plan does it for you
- Want paid ads: that is GROWTH, 1,497 EUR a month plus ad spend
- One small studio on a tight budget: do the profile and the reviews yourself first
Not a gym, but a membership we built
We have not built a site for a gym or run marketing for one, and none of our eight builds is a fitness business. The closest is SunVolt Club, the membership platform of SunVolt Energy UAB, which sells a 99 EUR annual membership in Romanian and English. We built the public page with the full benefit list and the price, Stripe checkout and a member area with login. What carries over is narrow: a page that says what a membership includes and what it costs, so a visitor can decide. We do not publish SunVolt's member count or revenue, and we have no gym numbers to quote.

Should a gym run a discount in January or September?
Only if you can follow it up. A discount fills the first month, but a member comes from the trial visit and the coach check-ins after it. Test it against your own count: of last year's joiners, how many were still training three months later?
Can PROOF48 film my coaches and my floor?
No. The 12 AI videos in BROADCAST use an AI avatar built from your brand direction, so footage of your real coaches and room is yours to film on a phone. We have not built or marketed a gym, and none of our eight builds is one.
Can marketing promise me a number of new members?
No. Nobody controls who walks in or what Google shows. We do not promise a position, a number of trial visits or a number of members, and we do not publish results we have not measured.
How do I know which channel brings members?
Ask every trial visitor how they heard about you and write it down, then note who signed up. After three months you have a count per source, which is more honest than guessing from likes.
Where PROOF48 fits
For an independent gym, marketing gets a stranger to book a trial visit, and the visit, with a coach, makes them a member. Build the trial path first, plan around January and September including the weeks after, show your real coaches and floor, ask members for a friend, and stop paying for what you cannot trace. PROOF48's BROADCAST plan, 597 EUR a month, covers the profile and content side. It does not film your gym.
