What to actually do when Google suspends your business profile

Read the notice, then appeal once through Google's appeals tool, with documents whose business name and address match the profile exactly: registration, a licence, a tax certificate or a utility bill. Google says decisions can take up to 5 business days and an appeal can be submitted only once. Do not create a new profile for the business.

01What a suspension is, and what it is not

Google says it may suspend or disable Business Profiles that do not follow its guidelines. A suspended profile cannot be viewed by the public, and owners and managers cannot act on it. That is different from a profile that ranks badly, a review you dislike or an edit that was rejected. It is also different from an account restriction. If your Google account is restricted for policy violations, the profiles you manage are suspended and you cannot create or claim others. Google's page says to appeal the restriction first, on the My accounts page, and the profile suspension after it is lifted. Work out which of the two you have before you do anything else.

  • Suspended profile: the public cannot see it and you cannot act on it
  • Account restriction: every profile you manage is suspended and you cannot create or claim others
  • With a restricted account, appeal the restriction first and the profile second
  • A low ranking, a bad review or a rejected edit is not a suspension

02Find the likely reason before you appeal

An appeal can be submitted only once, and Google says not to create a new profile for the same business, so the order matters: understand first, appeal second. Read the email or the notice in your profile, then compare the profile with Google's guidelines. They list what is not permitted or not eligible: extra information in the business name, such as taglines, hours, a phone number or service descriptions; a P.O. box or a mailbox at a remote location; a rented mailing address where the business does not operate, which Google calls a virtual office; a service-area business listing a virtual office that is not staffed during business hours. We cannot tell which one applies to you, and neither can anyone guessing from outside. Google's notice is the starting point.

  • Read the notice first and do not guess the reason
  • Business name: the name on your sign, with no taglines, hours, phone numbers or service descriptions
  • Address: a place where you really operate, not a P.O. box, a remote mailbox or a virtual office
  • One appeal only, and no new profile for the same business

03What to put in the appeal

In the appeals tool you select the profile and the decision, add a written explanation and supporting files, tick the readiness box and submit. Google suggests evidence such as business registration, a business licence, tax certificates and utility bills for electricity, phone, water or internet, and says the business name and address on them must match the profile. For a Romanian company that can mean the registration certificate, a tax-status certificate and a recent utility invoice for the premises, but Google's page names the types of document, not the Romanian forms, so use whatever shows your name and address most plainly. Keep the explanation short and factual: what the business is, where it operates and what the documents show. Do not argue. Show.

  • Select the profile and the decision, add an explanation and files, tick the box, submit
  • Registration, licence, tax certificate or a utility bill for the premises
  • Business name and address on every document the same as on the profile
  • A short, factual explanation with no argument in it

04Waiting, and what to do if it is denied

Google says appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days, and not to submit more appeals for the same issue before you have a decision. The tool shows a status, from Submitted to Approved or Not Approved, and Google emails the decision. If it is denied, Google's pages say you may be able to ask for an additional review with evidence that was not in the original appeal, and that businesses in the EEA may have extra options, including an out-of-court dispute settlement body. Meanwhile your website, phone number and other channels still work. Put your address, hours and phone in plain text on the site and tell regular customers where to find you.

  • Up to 5 business days for a decision, according to Google
  • One appeal per issue, and no second appeal while the first is pending
  • If denied: ask for an additional review with new evidence
  • In the meantime: address, hours and phone as plain text on your own site

05Where PROOF48 is the wrong choice

We cannot reinstate a profile, and nobody outside Google can influence its decision. None of our eight published builds is a suspension case, and we do not sell appeals as a service. FOUND, at 297 EUR a month, includes Google Business Profile management, local SEO for 5 target keywords, 2 AI blog posts a month, schema and a monthly ranking report. It keeps a live profile accurate and consistent with your website. We do not claim it prevents a suspension or reverses one. If the cause is an address that Google treats as a virtual office, no plan fixes that, because Google says such a location is not eligible. With no website yet, the site comes first: up to about five pages, 500 to 2,500 EUR, built in 48 hours and paid for only after the preview.

  • We cannot reinstate a profile and we do not sell appeals
  • FOUND keeps a live profile accurate; it does not prevent or reverse a suspension
  • A virtual-office address is ineligible, whatever plan you buy
  • No website yet: the 48-hour site comes first

One set of facts, in the text and in the structured data

None of our builds is a suspension case, and we have no suspended-profile result to quote. The nearest habit comes from Santorini Hotel in Eforie Nord, where the site publishes the reception, restaurant and complaints phone lines on the page and in structured data, so the same facts appear in both. Google's appeal page asks for documents that match the profile's name and address. A business that already writes its name, address and phone the same way everywhere has less to reconcile when it needs to prove who it is.

Questions, answered

How long does a Google Business Profile appeal take?

Google's help page says appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days. Do not submit more than one appeal for the same issue before you have a decision.

Can I create a new profile while the old one is suspended?

No. Google's page says not to create a new profile for the same business, and with an account restriction you cannot create or claim profiles at all. Appeal instead.

Can PROOF48 file the appeal for me?

We do not sell appeals as a service. The appeal comes from the owner or manager account with the business's own documents, and only Google decides. If you are on FOUND, we manage the live profile, not the outcome of an appeal.

Is a suspension the same as dropping in the rankings?

No. A suspended profile cannot be viewed by the public at all. A profile that ranks lower is still visible, and nobody can promise or pay for a local position.

Where PROOF48 fits

When Google suspends a business profile, find out whether it is the profile or the account, read the notice, and appeal once with documents whose business name and address match the profile. Google says decisions can take up to 5 business days. PROOF48's FOUND plan, at 297 EUR a month, manages a live profile; it cannot reinstate a suspended one, and we say so.
